The World Cyber Games 2006 found its way onto the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast, and Gamestah Radio obviously couldn't resist taking up the very tempting offer to come down and cover the Counter Strike Source & Call of Duty 2 finals action. Leading the way were EJ & Bob with Reef, Dfenz, Sim, Nutty & Sacrifice providing the much needed support.
Set at the Gold Coast's convention centre, the main floor was partitioned down the centre with the Harvey Norman BYOC competition on one side. On the other was the main stage with 3 massive projectors above and behind the players, and ten 26inch widescreen Samsung LCD's setup in front of each player.
The Gamestah crew set about grabbing video footage & interviews with teams, players and event organisers during the afternoon as the Counter Strike Source and Call of Duty 2 competitions were getting serious. The video footage is being compiled over the next week or so and will be uploaded and available to all for download.
At 7:30pm Style & 3M Gaming stepped up on the main stage, with a huge audience waiting in eager anticipation for the Grand Final to kick off. Each of the players got comfortable as Ej & Bob started to loosen up the vocal cords in preparation to cast this fantastic match between the current #1 & #2 online teams - both to the live audience as well as the multitude of listeners tuning in from around the world.
Not wanting to give away the surprise, all we can say is that it's worth downloading the shoutcasts for each of the games and having a listen to this cracker of a night. Tune in and find out who takes home the prizes and can claim kisses from the Gold Coast Meter Maids. The winners can now use the pickup line "Hi baby, I'm in Australia's number one CSS|CoD2 team, wanna kiss?".
As they say, the rest is history... or a law suit. |
