For some more info on the Invite League, feel free to check out the following links: 3M-Invite League Information 3M-Invite League Rules The competition is sponsored by GameOn and as such, matches will be played on GameOn servers unless both teams agree to another server and it is OK'd by an admin first. I had a chance to catch Asterix and Trailblazer, the two men behind 3M-Invite today, and gave them a few questions about the workings of 3M-i, how it came about and how it will run. Check out the interview below: ________________________________________ Alfreido: Welcome Asterix and Trailblazer. We'll get straight to it. What were the reasons for both of you wanting to start your own league? Asterix: To make a quality league that is easy to run and administer, as opposed to ACL which is mainly forum based and makes it a pain having to find the team you are playing and agree on a time for the next match etc. This league makes it easier, as each week one team will be the home team and the other the away team, like GA, the home team sets three different days/times for the match and then the away team accepts one of these. Then the match time, IP and password is sent out to all players involved. After the match, a captain from each team inputs the score into the website and if scores are the same, the ladder on the main page is updated immediately; if the scores are different me and trailblazer receive an email and will follow the score up. The 3M-i competition is sponsored by GameOn, a new server hosting company run by trailblazer. GameOn provide the servers for the matches, this means that we control the settings on the server and can ensure that there are no dodgy settings etc. We will decide shortly whether to allow matches to be played on other servers if both teams agree. Trailblazer: We'd been playing with the idea of our own quality league for a little while, and after another turn with ACL we bit the bullet and set down to work. We wanted to bring everyone a little bit closer together, and ignite some interest and competition within the community. We've set this up to be focused slightly more around the community, encouraging participation and input from every team. Alfreido: Are you using rulesets similar to other leagues or is your ruleset fundamentally different? Asterix: The current rule sets have been devised from both GA’s and ACL’s current rules, basically almost all rules will be up for debate in the form of polls and forum threads etc. Each team that is competing in the league will get to nominate an admin. This person will get access to the 3M-i Private forums, where there will be many polls and debates about anything to do with the league. Basically the admin from each team will put forward their vote on behalf of their team. This saves their being to many polls open to the public. Trailblazer: We were keen on seeing a balance of rules currently enforced by various competitions. Take the best from all, I guess and adding that special Trailblazer touch. Asterix: The main difference is that we may not have referees at all. Depending what the public wants we will decide whether referees are allowed or not. At the moment, Gamestah shoutcasters are the only ones that definitely have the go to spectate matches. Alfreido: With the teams you invited in the competition, what qualities were you looking for? Asterix: Basically, any team which was in the top 12 on GA and/or has proven themselves previously such as Team iMmunity. We only invited the teams that we were sure about, any other teams that we weren't 100% sure about we left out and made it clear that we may invite more later, depending on numbers on this page: http://www.3mclan.org/league/info.php Trailblazer: We wanted teams that were actively competing in other competitions, were of higher form (to keep things interesting) and who would provide input and help add to our competition. We picked all the big names, and most jumped on board straight away. Most people were looking for a sea-change, and I guess they must like the sound of a heavily community focused competition. We are really striving to heavily involve the community, and like I said earlier, make everyone get excited again, and look forward to that night when their 3M-i match is on! Asterix: As we were looking for a league of roughly 8-14 teams, we invited 15 teams as its unlikely that all teams on the list would sign up. Trailblazer: Something manageable at this stage, so we can run the competition, see how it goes, and later possibly expand into bigger and better things. Alfreido: How long will the competition go for, and how many matches can we expect? Asterix: Basically if there are 13 teams then it will go for 12 weeks, 1 match a week. Trailblazer: It all depends on the amount of teams that accept our invite. Like Jeremy mentioned, we'd like to see about 8~14 teams at this stage (We invited 15). We already have (within 2 days) 9 teams signed up with more following suit! Alfreido: With teams like Style, 3M Gaming and Excess Squad all invited to the competition, are you expecting some mind-blowing matches to take place? And what are the matches you are most looking forward to? Asterix: I personally most anticipate seeing how iM do in an Invite level for CoD2, considering how good their other teams are. Trailblazer: Especially with Turando and Inter. Asterix: However, any match between Style, 3 Minute Men, Excess Gaming and the new Klutch and Excess merger team, (their team is called TBA in the league atm) will be insane. Shoutcasts should be an excellent listen. Trailblazer: We have some fantastic teams signed up for the competition, and we should have some cracker matches the entire season. Hopefully this can set a fire under some people's asses and make them practice up and become the best they can be! With the addition of regular shoutcasts, it should keep everyone very interested in our competition. Alfreido: And finally, any final comments to the gaming community? Trailblazer: Any questions at all, feel free to contact us. Check out the news post on www.3mclan.org. Asterix: If you would like any input into the league please post in the 3M-i public sections in the 3M Forums: http://www.3mclan.org/forums and vote on this poll about what maps for the league, especially need people to post suggestions for custom maps, so I can start another poll: http://www.3mclan.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=565 Trailblazer: Any questions in person, see me @ QGL 1st-3rd Sept. Asterix: Finally, GO 3M ON LAN ON THE WEEKEND, DO THAT ON LAN! Alfreido: Thanks for taking your time to speak to Gamestah, fellas. ________________________________________ 3M-Invite League will be starting very soon, so make sure to check all those links for all the info you need about this league.
