Jack Thompson LOL's Again

Out of all the people in the world there is only one that deserves a swift kick in the nuts. That person is John Bruce "Jack" Thompson, an attorney who is hell bent on ridding "violence" and "obscenity" from all forms of media and entertainment. Born in 1951 and currently based in Coral Gables, Florida, Jack has devoted his life to being an asshole. Most of you from the gaming crowd will be familiar with Jack and his exploits. Coming from a Christian background and being a fervent republican, Jack pursues his many "endeavours" with incredible fanaticism. Jack has had legal run-ins with nearly everyone under the sun, including Miami radio station WIOD, Luke Skyywalker Records, Time Warner, MTV, SCEA, Comedy Central and even the Florida Bar Association (For those that don't know the Florida Bar Association is responsible for the regulation of legal professionals i.e. Jack himself)! He has also been corroborating with that devil woman Hillary Clinton in her attempt to ban the sale of M rated games to minors. I would talk about his previous exploits but there are too many to list and I have neither the time nor the patience so I’ll just focus on the incident at hand.

Jacks last incident with Take-Two Interactive over the Hot Coffee mod has fallen out of the press and Jack has been rather quiet. However he has recently burst back into the media spotlight by filing another lawsuit against Take-Two Interactive, its subsidiary Rockstar Games and Wal-Mart in an attempt to stop the launch of their new title, Bully. He has already written up the lawsuit and has faxed a notification of intent to sue to Take-Two Interactive and Wal-Mart. Copies were also sent to internet news sites bit-tech.net and TrustedReviews. The fax is basically an ultimatum and I have pasted the body in below to save you the trouble of reading the original article. It reads as follows:

Subject: Bully will never be released

Dear Mr. Eibeler, Take-Two Directors, and Mr. Walton:

Take-Two has until five o’clock p.m., Eastern time, Monday, August 14, 2006, to inform me in writing that it will forthwith provide me with a
copy of Bully so that I and others can analyze it to determine whether it still poses a threat of copycat violence in our schools (See Miami-Dade School Board’s unanimous Resolution), or the following will occur:

I shall file a lawsuit against your respective companies to stop the game’s October 1 release.

The main point of the fax is that Jack believes that the game Bully "poses a threat of copycat violence" Jack, as per usual, is talking out of his ass, an act which I attribute to his short stint in politics. In true hillbilly style he has decided to shoot first and ask questions later. What he is doing is the whole "judging a book by its cover" thing and is just assuming that the game Bully involves exactly what the name implies: bullying. Obviously he hasn’t seen the debut trailer which was released on the 11th of August on IGN. The trailer portrays the main character, Jimmy Hopkins, as a rather mild fellow who is just trying to get through a tough school. Its just a story on the usual trials students face when they come to a new school. Furthermore, the synopsis of the game on the official Bully website (http://www.rockstargames.com/bully/overview.htm) backs this up. It talks of standing up for what you think is right and taking on those in the upper echelons of school society who assume an automatic superiority over other students (A situation which is all too common in schools, even here in Australia).
