Download Qlimax vs PTG & ICHOR vs 403

MATCH OF THE WEEK (Sun Mar 01 @ 08:30pm)

PTG v Qlimax

Qlimax Lineup: commy – gzuz – giant – fryiee – reborn

PTG Lineup: Myztik – Tegs – Zoltan – Meki – Atvar

What’s that Commy?  You think a match between the two worst teams on the ladder is the match of the week?  Are you insane?

The answer is of course, yes, but for entirely different reasons.  This epic battle to avoid the wooden spoon will be fought very vigorously between these two teams, both on three losses.  Either Qlimax or PTG is going to be forced onto 4 losses after this game, which is not an enviable position to be in.  Qlimax’s past performance is terrible so far, although it has started to pick up.  Winning 5 rounds over the first 2 matches, they most recently came back to fight a very tense battle with 403 on inferno.  The balance tipped towards 403 in the end though, giving Qlimax a 14-16 loss.  PTG similarly played a  tense game against ZR on the same map, getting ahead only to lose 16-13 due to the famous www.tegsgamer.com.au rage.

I think PTG will take this one by a small margin, provided Tegs doesn’t get his rage on.  Atvar will be feeling a lot more at home in their lineup, and we should see some interesting strats out of the famous caller.  Both teams will be relying heavily on chemistry though, as Tuscan remains the least practiced/played map out of the 5.  It will be a grim fight to the death, because the team which loses also loses any real chance to compete in the finals

Players to Watch: Zoltan/Myztik from Synergy, Giant/Commy from Qlimax (arrogant I know, but I’m trying to be honest here!)

Prediction: 16-14 to PTG

403 v iCHOR (Sun Mar 01 @ 07:30pm)

403 Lineup: plague – subberz – lock – stardock – storm1n – cps

iCHOR Lineup: Digz – Havoc – Topgun – Zeke – Racs

This should be an excellent match to watch, and the best out of the two 7:30 games.  403 has been playing solidly of late, notching up two 16-14 wins against Qlimax and AFO, and only losing to Immunity by 5 rounds.  Their performance is essentially on track.  iCHOR, conversely, have been playing far below expectations.  Pegged to come 1st or 2nd, iCHOR lost to ZR first round, and got destroyed by Encore 16-6.  The reason for this, of course, is that these players of old don’t take the game as seriously as others, and don’t practice to nazi like time regimes.

I’m still calling this in Ichor’s favour though, because I doubt 403 will have the time or patience to create some strats for Tuscan.  On any other map I would have given it to 403, but on Tuscan the skill level of individuals will win over clunky and under rehearsed strats.  The only chance that 403 has is to smash open sites with numbers and rely on chemistry, but it won’t be enough for ‘have my babies’ Havoc and co.  Subberz cheats though, so 403 have that at least in their favour.

Players to Watch: Havoc, Digz or zeke depending on whos awping, subberz from 403 and stardock because he has no hair.  At all.  He’s bald, you see.

Prediction: 16 - 13 to iCHOR
