Gaming & Commentary History

My gaming history starts when I was 8 in 1995, playing Apogee games on our old 386 computer way back when. I used to play games like Hocus Pocus, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Commander Keen, Bio Menace, and of course, DUKE NUKEM, and I still have all of these games! Years later, other games like DOOM and Goldeneye came along, with some console gaming being one of my parents for a small period, but later on; PC Gaming really started to take over in my world, with the first "big" gaming operating system ever released WINDOWS 98 SE!

I started playing some Counter-Strike beta at a lan when I was starting high school, and soon after it was released as retail and became THE staple game for lans. It was such a different experience to any other game I'd ever played, looked so amazing compared to anything else we had all played (at the time), and was so skill-based with much less luck involved then other games that had been released in the past. In the years to come, Counter-Strike became the most played online FPS game of all time, in fact, second only to World of Warcraft out of all games (as of 2008).

Towards the end of high school I started playing a lot more 1.6 and even attended some competitive lans (even won a few minor ones) but was never really good enough to "go all the way". I always keep attending the lans though, as even though a lan really sounds like nothing more then a Trekkie convention for gamers (which is kind of is really...), you do get to meet some awesome characters and play with and against people in person, that you've only previously met over the Internet.

A while on, Counter-Strike was really the big thing in E-Sports in the world, and probably was the one real catalysts for the start of it all, with (for the first time) commentators "shoutcasting" the plays over the Internet and over HLTV so people could hear some commentry along with the match. This immediately peaked my interest the very first time I'd ever heard it (even though it was in Swedish). Soon enough, (2003) EJ and BoB had started up Gamestah, and provided Shoutcasting in Australia; something I listened to religiously (in CS anyway). A year or two later Counter-Strike Source was released, and hardly any of my friends were playing Counter-Strike anymore, which really pushed me onto the new version. I used to be *just* competitive with decent players at competitions locally (at The Bunker in Brisbane), but now I'm average at best in both!

A few years on now, I have broadband and a quality computer setup and bought The Orange Box right when it came out, and Gamestah started covering the game almost instantly. A few times I was a guest on the TF2 casts, and eventually this was what re-ignited my interest in Shoutcasting, and was what really got me to join up with the guys and start doing some casts of my own! I love casting matches in all the games I play and enjoy, and I really enjoy the banter of teams against each other and look forward to casting for you - so tune in and have some fun!

200 casts since I posted this, 363 days ago. Fair good average methinks! My goal was to hit the lan scene big in 09, think I did alright. 2010 to come!
