Gaming & Commentary History

Gaming History:

My starting point in PC gaming would have been around year 7/8 of school when I began playing both Dark Reign and Duke Nukem 3D. From this point I went to play through all the different FPS and RTS games that I coudl get my hands on. I went in phases of preference between FPS and RTS until I played CS (back then it was brand new), I played CS on and off until well… I still load up source from time to time.  So when I started playing CS I became largely and FPS player for a number of years. I have and will always love my RTS but to steal a line from fpsdoug "there’s nothing like rush of hunting people down and killing them".

So what do I play now (2008), well I still go through a lot of games which is normal for me, these include: CSS,  DoD:S, BF2, CoD4 and CoH (RTS still lives) – These are the games I would play on the most regular basis, but if I had to limit that list further the most regularly played are BF2 and CoH.

Commentary History:

Some time ago now I would guess around 2003 – I heard a Grand Final being shoutcasted. I thought it was very cool and something I could do. I spoke to the guys after the match, but really my interest wasn’t peaking then and it drifted out the door like a fad. Mid-Late 2004 my CS team was playing for the top spot on Game Arena anf it was being shoutcasted. Naturally I listened to it post match. This time I wanted to give back so I went and did a recording of a demo and submitted it. Since then I have been part of Gamestah radio.

Back in 2004-2005, I used to only solo cast CS matches and by the most part was left to my own devices. After proving my commitment I quickly became in charge of the CS team and progressively became more integrated into Gamestah. When I started playing BF2 and also started working full time, my ability to cast online dropped away.

Most recently I have been quieter on the online scene  than usual. This is mainly due to the fact that I have been setting up a new business, getting married, finishing off my professional studies… so on and so forth. Unfortuantly that doesn’t leave much time for the process that is involved with an online shoutcast. Instead I have elected to focus on the growth and management of Gamestah.  From a management perspective, I am continually looking to improve the internal workings of Gamestah to ensure we can deliver higher quality and quantity of entertainment in the longer term.  As far as growth is concerned, I am focusing on externally growing and getting the Gamestah name out in the real world. In my current role as the Events Manager, I focus on the Live Events scene and ensuring Gamestah is out making a presence whenever and wherever possible. This is why you would have seen a dip on my online presence but a dramatic increase in Gamestah's large event coverage.  Gamestah is also looking at new markets and mediums to deliver our services to or through respectively.
