The World Cyber Games hits Singapore from the 2nd of August to the 5th of August, with Gamestah providing coverage for this event. WCG Asia will take play in the Suntec Convention Centre, Suntec City, Singapore. Elite players from twelve countries including Australia and New Zealand are participating in the event. Five games have been announced for WCG Asia and prizes available for each game.

Gamestah is pleased to be sending over Ej, Glimmer and TobiWanKenobi for a couple of days so that they may provide shoutcasting expertise to the event. This is one of the biggest events Gamestah has had the pleasure of catering for. Our team have already departed for Singapore and are eager to get to work on what will no doubt be one of the biggest events on the gaming calender this year.

Each of the 12 countries attending has held their own qualifiers in there selective country, with the best teams from each picking up a ticket to Singapore to play the best from Asia. The countries in attendence are: Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. With so many countries coming out to play; we will no doubt see some varied styles of game play, which is what makes international gaming so enjoyable.

The five games announced for the event are DotA All Stars, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, Age of Empires III: The War Chiefs, FIFA 07, and finally Dead or Alive 4. The prize money varies between games, with 1st place prize in DotA All Stars picking up $8000 compared to 1st place in the other four games which picks up $1600. While games like Counter Strike and Starcraft are on the WCG list although they will not be played at the tournament. They seem to want to shake things up a bit.

You can tune in over the 2nd to 5th of August in order to catch the e-goodness, be prepared to bring a change of underpants and extra socks, because its going to be a cracker of an event brought to you by some of the best commentators to ever grace the online shoutcasting industry. More details will be posted closer to the event about how to listen in, don't miss it!
