DONATE TO THE WINNER’S PRIZE POOL HERE
Please note the change of dates to accommodate the State of Origin on Saturday 11/02!
Gamestah is pleased to announce the return of the Gamestah Rocket League Invitational, to be played over a four week period, between the top teams in Oceania!
Who is Invited?
The top 8 teams in the Oceanic Power rankings will be invited to participate.
The remaining 8 slots will be decided in a qualifying tournament on Saturday 21 January ’17.
Tournament Format
Qualifying Tournament – 21 January 2017
The qualifying tournament is open to all OCE teams not already invited to the HEYGRLSS. Teams will be seeded into a Swiss Format bracket. They’ll play seven rounds and at the end of the seventh round, the top 8 teams will qualify for the regular season of the GRL.
Sign-up for the Qualifying Tournament here.
Registration for the Qualifying Tournament is restricted to 14 teams so be sure to register ASAP. Registrations close at midnight on 20 January 2017.
Round-robin Pools – 30 January, 6 February, 13 February
Teams will be divided into four pools. Each of the top four ranked teams will be seeded first into separate pools. Then we’ll do a live-streamed draw to allocate the remaining 12 teams to their pools. The draw will take place on Sunday 22 January, immediately after the RLO tournament finishes (at around 8:30pm AEDT).
Pool play will take place on Monday nights, with the first match starting at 7:30pm, and will last three weeks, with teams playing their pool competitors once each in round-robin format.
Pool matches will all be bo5.
Play-offs – Saturday 25 February 2017
At the end of three weeks, two teams from each pool will progress to the play-offs. Play-offs will take place in the fourth week, in ODC (One-Day Competition) format, on Saturday, 25 February 2017. We’ll host the Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, Bronze and Grand Finals all on one day.
League Points
Bonus points are back! Last season, we featured a league points system to encourage positive play during the round-robin stages. Points will be awarded each week to teams as follows:
Points for Winning
If you win a Round-robin match, you’ll be awarded 2 points.
Points for Scoring
If you score a total of 9 goals or more throughout a single match (i.e. the full bo5), you’ll be awarded 1 bonus point. The bonus point can be awarded to the winning or losing team, or both.
Points for Losing… Well
If you lose your bo5 3-2, you’ll get 1 bonus point. Obviously this point is only available to losers!
Points for Scheduling
We have changed the approach to bonus points with respect to streaming schedules!
We want to stream at least four matches per week during pool play, on Monday nights. Only teams that play their matches on Monday nights will be eligible for bonus points. If your team is unable to make the Monday night match, you may complete the match another night, but you will only be able to earn the Points for Winning.
Fees and Prizes
Entry Fees
Entry to the Gamestah Rocket League Invitational is free.
However, Gamestah’s approach to the cash prize pool requires donations that Gamestah then matches, dollar for dollar (see below). Teams are strongly encouraged to make a donation!
Prizes – Cash
Gamestah will provide an initial prize pool of $200.
We would like to encourage community donations for prizes, much like The International from DOTA2. Gamestah will match, dollar for dollar, all donations from the community for prizes, to a maximum of $400.
That means if we get $400 worth of donations, Gamestah will match it with $400, for a total prize pool of $1,000. Donations above $400 will also go into the prize pool, of course.
Prizes Allocation:
1st Prize: ½ the total prize pool
2nd Prize: ¼ the total prize pool
3rd Prize: 1/8 the total prize pool
Tournament MVP Prize: 1/8 the total prize pool
To give you an idea of how the prize allocation might work out:

All matches will be streamed on twitch.tv/gamestahtv1 and on Facebook.com/gamestah.

Tournament Admin
We will be running the tournament using Challonge.com.
Registration for the Qualifying Tournament is open at http://gamestah.challonge.com/HEYGRLSSQ. The top eight teams, as determined by the OCE Power Rankings, do not have to register for the Qualifying tournament.
Registration for the Regular Season will be made available at a later date.
Invitations
The eight invitations will be sent out within the next few days.

All teams that enter the Gamestah Rocket League Summer Seventeen Invitation must agree to playing their Pool matches on Monday nights!
Pool Draw Show will take place on Sunday night 22 January ’17 @ 8:30pm AEDT
Qualifying Tournament for remaining 8 slots on Saturday 21 January ’17, start time 10am AEDT.
Round robin matches will commence with week 1 on Monday 23 January ’17 at 7:30pm.
Round 1: Monday 23 January ’17
Round 2: Monday 30 January ’17
Round 3: Monday 6 February ’17
The Play-offs ODC will take place on Saturday 11 February ’17.
What Happens If…
Forfeits
If a team forfeits their match for the week, then their opposing team will be awarded points for winning and an additional bonus point for meeting scheduling criteria (i.e. they’re available on Monday night).
To prove that you’re available and your opponents are not you’ll have to start the match with your full team present together with at least one Gamestah staff member, who will screenshot the team list at the match’s start.
Disputes
If you wish to register a dispute you will need to provide replays and screenshots to support your side of the dispute. If you don’t provide these your dispute will be thrown out. So make sure you save replays and take screenshots! Matches that are streamed are exempt from this because Gamestah will save replays of each game.
Smurfing/ Ring-ins
Neither are allowed by default. However, if BOTH team captains agree that a player can play, then go for it. Screenshot the agreement!
Tournament Rules
We will post the full tournament rule set prior to the first match night (23 January ’17).
Other Stuff
We reserve the right to make changes to the above as and when new information arises. Except for the date. We’re starting with the draw on 22/01 and kick off of the first match is on 23/01!
